phase out: a ClearCorrect project

ClearCorrect’s clear aligners straighten teeth one step at a time.

To stay flexible, we make them right when you need them, in phases of 4 steps each.

When doctors prescribe ClearCorrect, their lab fee covers a maximum number of phases. When everything goes smoothly, a few phases are often left unused at the end of treatment.

We’ve got a choice: we can pocket the extra profit from those leftover phases, or we can do something great with it.

We’re doing something great.

Starting January 1, 2012, for each leftover phase, $20 will go toward phasing out life-impacting issues for people in need.

Our first issue—unsafe drinking water. Our first partner—charity: water.

Initiatives

Almost a billion people on the planet still don’t have access to clean drinking water. Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.

We’re working with charity: water to change that. Now every time a phase is left over at the end of treatment, $20 goes toward building wells and other water projects in developing nations.

One phase = one person with access to clean, safe drinking water.

Progress

So far, you’ve helped us give $44,915, which will help about 2246 people.

If you’re interested in straightening your teeth with ClearCorrect aligners, talk to one of our providers. If you finish your treatment with leftover phases, they’ll automatically be donated through the phase out program.

If you’re already a ClearCorrect patient or provider, here’s what you can do:

Patients: Wear your aligners 22 hours a day.

It seems simple, but it really counts. When you start wearing an aligner, your bones may take 24 hours or more to start adjusting. Each time you leave the aligners out too long, the process has to start over again from scratch. That means less effective results, longer treatment time, and possibly more phases being used for treatment instead of water projects.

Doctors: Leave some wiggle room & make replacements.

The easiest way to end up with leftover phases is to allow yourself enough to begin with. It might be tempting to squeeze into as few as possible, but that won’t leave much flexibility for midcourse corrections, refinements, replacements—or leftover phases.

We’re happy to manufacture replacements for lost or broken aligners on request, but if we do, it’ll use up one of your phases. If you want to save phases (and time), you can make replacement aligners in your own office with the dental models we include for each step of aligners.
